Boom Barrel

The War Mage has a wide variety of traps at his disposal when defending the rifts. These traps, as well as weapons and guardians, will be what is used to stop the orcs from reaching the Rift. Some traps are permanent, others are one use only, some will be placed on the ground while others will need a place on a wall or ceiling.

Overview of traps in Orcs Must Die! 3[]

All traps in Orcs Must Die! 3 have two types of upgrades available:

  • Upgrades directly improving a single aspect of a trap, e.g. the amount of damage it deals or its coin cost. Normal traps have 3 tiers of these upgrades, each costing more than the one before. War machines don't have these kinds of upgrades.
  • Unique upgrades which change a traps behaviour. Specific challenges need to be beaten with the trap to unlock them. While every trap has two of these improvements available, only one unique upgrade can be equipped at a time.
